Scott <\/span>built his complete 10 GHz system from kits and modified an old DirecTV dish to work at 10 GHz.\u00a0 He has been on the 10 GHz band since 2006!<\/p>\n

Forum Description:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span>The 10 GHz band is one of the most popular microwave bands we amateurs use.\u00a0 My presentation will cover the equipment needed to get on the band relatively easily with off-the-shelf units that are available today.\u00a0 One can either buy built and tested equipment or can build from kits or assemble a system from converted commercial items as desired.\u00a0 Transverters are available from producers in the USA, Germany, Australia, and other parts of Europe.\u00a0 Of course, eBay is also a popular source of just about everything needed to put a top-notch system together.\u00a0 Today\u2019s microwave operators use everything from simple CW\/SSB or FM or digital modes such as WSJT\u2019s Q65 mode.\u00a0 There are even hams doing EME on 10 GHz with relatively small dish antennas and 5 to 10 Watts!\u00a0 With microwaves, you can have your lunch and cook it too!\u00a0 Just kidding \u2013 we do it SAFELY!\u00a0 I use a transverter from Down East Microwave (Florida) that uses 144 MHz as the \u201cI.F. Radio to up\/down convert to 10 GHz.<\/p>\n
